Recently, our licensing software vendor, Thentia, experienced an outage that affected agencies across the state and country.
Thentia confirmed the system issues that caused this outage were resolved on Sept. 8. For most licensees, the portal should now be working properly. However, the system outage did cause some technical issues to arise, and it will take time for technicians to identify and fix these issues.
Because of this unexpected outage, the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority granted an extension to licensees unable to submit a renewal application during the portal outage. Below, OMMA has put together some frequently asked questions about applications submitted during this outage:
I submitted my application during the outage. My credit/debit card was charged but the application didn’t process. What do I need to do?
If you submitted an application (new or renewal) during the outage and your credit/debit card was charged but the application didn’t process, please email a copy of the receipt to OMMACommunications@omma.ok.gov. We’ll work with Thentia to resolve the issue.
How can I check the status of my application?
Licensees can access the licensing portal here to check the status of an application.
I still have a question.

Did you know OMMA-licensed businesses can issue voluntary recalls and embargoes, and OMMA can also require businesses to issue them? Check our dedicated webpage to see the latest embargoed and recalled product announcements. State law and OMMA rules require the businesses to provide notice to patients who bought products that have been recalled.
Licensing Times
As of Sept. 16, OMMA is taking six business days to process both new and renewal adult in-state patient applications. These times are longer than usual due to the recent Thentia outage.

Patients pay the 7% State Question 788 excise tax when buying medical marijuana products at a dispensary. As of Fiscal Year 2023, the revenue is handled as proposed in SQ 788:
Patients pay state and local sales tax when buying medical marijuana products at the dispensary. The rate varies by city/county and is the same at dispensaries as other non-medical marijuana retailers in the same area. The money goes straight to the state government and city/county – OMMA never touches it. State and local sales tax revenue funds things like education, general state government and municipal/county services (streets, public safety, etc.).
